Fall flavors in a smoothie! Our Apple Pie Lactation Shake recipe gives breastfeeding moms a sweet autumn treat packed with whole-food galactagogues and 18g vegan protein. The flavors are definitely autumn inspired, however these ingredients can be found easily year-round, so you can whip up this recipe any time you need a breastfeeding and energy boost!
Some awesome mama benefits of this caramel-apple smoothie include:
- Vitamin C! Apples are rich in this vitamin, a key immunity booster for you and your breastmilk. Additionally, they contain iron, fiber and folate, all great ways to help you ward off viruses.
- Eight full grams of fiber - from whole-food sources - that's nearly 30% of what a breastfeeding mom should have in a day! Fiber is important for your breastfeeding diet as it can help you stay regular and may help stabilize blood sugar levels, and help curb your sweet tooth and keep you on track eating healthy foods that are best for you and baby.
- And remember - apple skin is made to be eaten! Don't peel your apple before throwing it in the blender, as the skin contains tons of vitamins and minerals including Vitamin K, Vitamin A, calcium and potassium.
Our fall lactation smoothie is written here with our Milk Drunk Salted Caramel protein powder, however we love this smoothie with our Vanilla and Chocolate powders as well!
